AeroMiles
AeroMiles is a web-based application specifically designed to manage a frequent flyer loyalty program. The system provides a comprehensive set of features for both members and staff, ranging from profile management and award miles package purchases to member-to-member miles transfers and gift redemptions. Additionally, the platform integrates tier level information, partner management, and missing miles claim processing to ensure a seamless experience.

Problem
Airlines need a reliable and centralized database system to handle their frequent flyer loyalty programs. The challenge was to create a secure architecture that could manage multiple user roles (Staff, Members), accurately track flight miles, automatically calculate membership tiers, and securely process miles transfers without data inconsistencies or balance overdrafts.
Process
As a Backend Developer, I focused on database transactions and user management. I implemented Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and CRUD operations for profiles. Using the STAR method for a core feature: my task was to build a secure 'Miles Transfer' system. I engineered strict validation logic to prevent balance overdrafts, utilizing database transactions to deduct the sender's miles, credit the receiver, and log the history simultaneously, ensuring ACID compliance.
Solution
We developed AeroMiles, a robust loyalty program platform. It features an automated tier progression system (e.g., Silver, Gold) based on accrued miles, distinct role permissions separating Staff operations from Member access, and a highly secure transaction engine for transferring and redeeming award miles.
Result
The project resulted in a highly reliable backend architecture. The role-based CRUD operations ensured strict data privacy. The miles transfer feature executed with 100% data integrity, effectively preventing negative balance exploits and maintaining an accurate, automated audit trail for all transactions. This project strengthened my expertise in Django, relational databases, and transactional safety.
